Finding your wireless device’s MAC addresses

You can view the Media Access Control (MAC) addresses of base stations connected to your network. There is a unique MAC address for both the wireless and wired (Ethernet) interfaces of your wireless device.

The addresses are printed on the bottom of your AirPort Extreme Base Station and Time Capsule, and on the back side of your AirPort Express.

The wireless MAC address is sometimes referred to as the AirPort ID.

You may need to provide a MAC address to your Internet service provider (ISP), or to clients on your network.

To see the MAC addresses using AirPort Utility:

  1. Open AirPort Utility, located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder on a computer using Mac OS X, and in Start > All Programs > AirPort on a Windows computer.

  2. Select your base station or Time Capsule, and then click Manual Setup. Enter the password if necessary.

  3. The wireless MAC address is displayed as the AirPort ID in the Summary pane of AirPort Utility.
